FAYETTEVILLE - Reported Sunday as unofficially hired as Arkansas’ new receivers coach, Kenny Guiton officially was announced Tuesday evening by Coach Sam Pittman as Razorbacks receivers coach.
Guiton replaces Justin Stepp, a South Carolina returning to his hometown of Columbia, S.C. to coach the University of South Carolina Gamecocks receivers under recently hired Gamecocks Coach Shane Beamer after coaching Arkansas receivers in 2018 and 2019 under Chad Morris and 2020 under Pittman.
Guiton, the receivers coach in 2020 at Colorado State, is a former Ohio State quarterback who has coached receivers at the University of Houston when Arkansas offensive coordinator Kendal Briles coached the Cougars receivers and also coached receivers at Louisiana Tech.
Houston and Louisiana are two prime Razorbacks recruiting areas.
Barry Odom, the Arkansas defensive coordinator and former Missouri head coach recently reported on the short list of new Texas Coach Steve Sarkisian to be Texas’ new defensive coordinator, and Arkansas strength coach Jamil Walker, reportedly courted by Beamer for consideration as South Carolina’s new strength coach, apparently intend to remain at Arkansas.
“"This was an important and outstanding day," Arkansas Pittman posted Tuesday on Twitter.
