FAYETTEVILLE -- Forrest City Class of 2026 running back Kevin Young Jr. has committed to the Razorbacks as a preferred walk-on recruit.
Young, 5-10, 220, rushed 179 times for 2,022 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2026. He also completed 30 of 45 passes for seven touchdowns. Young announced his decision on X Tuesday night.
"God's timing is perfect. Blessed to announce my commitment. Staying home!"
Jacksonville head coach Reggie Swinton had Young one season at Forrest City and helped get his name in front of the colleges.
"First of all Kevin Young is an awesome kid," Swinton said. "He's a yes sir. no sir kid. He's a really good football player. Overlooked, but I am certainly glad Arkansas came in and made contact with him. I appreciate Coach YAC evaluating the kid at the last minute."
Coach YAC is David Johnson, who coaches the running backs at Arkansas and is assistant head coach. At one time, Young had offers to Vanderbilt, Missouri, Kansas State, Henderson State and others.
"They are getting a steal," Swinton said. "If he gets the opportunity. That's the thing being a walk on is getting the opportunity. He is a 4.4 kid in the 40-yard dash. I had the blessing of coaching him for a year and he made my job easier."
Young will report to Arkansas in the summer.
