Kiwanis served superlative pulled pork Thursday evening at annual fundraiser
Thursday evening, the first night of the 49th Annual Hope Watermelon Festival, it has to be admitted that the Hope Kiwanis Club served the best-tasting pulled pork available in the greater Southwest Arkansas area.

Since switching from barbecue chicken legs and wings to thighs, the Kiwanis members have often sold out of meals well before the 7:00 p.m. closing time scheduled.

The pulled pork is prepared about a week ahead of time as it is hardwood smoked. On Watermelon Festival Thursdays the members then heat it up wrapped in aluminum foil in a coal-fired oven just prior to serving time at 4:30 p.m.

Kiwanis uses the proceeds from its very reasonable $10 ticket charge for the meal to fund scholarships, education efforts for local students, and providing hands-on services for families who need it.
