FAYETTEVILLE - Injury-plagued Arkansas Razorbacks senior tight end Koilan Jackson has retired from football, a UA spokesman confirmed Wednesday.

Jackson on Twitter posted “Knowing what I was capable of hurts, life goes on.”

The son of Keith Jackson, the former College and NFL Hall of Famer of the Oklahoma Sooners, Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers, and former Razorbacks sportscaster, and brother of former Razorbacks All-SEC defensive lineman Keith Jackson Jr., Koilan was signed by Arkansas’ Bret Bielema regime in 2017as a 4-star wide receiver out of Little Rock’s Joe T. Robinson but redshirted injured the entire 2017 season.

Jackson played a little for Chad Morris’ 2018 Razorbacks and finally lettered in 2018 catching 3 passes for 38 yards including a 19-yard touchdown against Texas A&M.

Arkansas Coach Sam Pittman in 2020 never got the chance to see Jackson following a season-ending knee injury from which he tried unsuccessfully to recover from in 2021.

Koilan’s plight was explained by new tight ends coach Dowell Loggains when asked about Jackson a week before Jackson retired.

“He’s been injured since I’ve been here,” Loggains said. “I obviously played with his brother here at Arkansas. So, I like the family and I can speak on that. I know the kid has some receiving skills I’ve been able to see on tape in the past, but until you get on the field I can’t really comment. We just haven’t had the chance to get him on the field and see.”
