La Mangonada Neveria & Snacks held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony this morning to celebrate the opening of Hope's new ice cream parlor. La Mangonada proprietors Alejandra and Javier Aguirre were joined by family and friends, as well as representatives from various Hope organizations, for the momentous occasion.

Mayor Don Still said "it is always exciting at the start of a new business venture," and gave the pair well-wishes on their new business venture. Hope Downtown Network VP Mark Ross said it's great to see another business come to the downtown area and add to revitalization, and since 2017 approximately 27-30 businesses have opened in the downtown blocks of Hope.

La Mangonada provides homemade ice cream with a bit of a twist. The various flavors are from recipes either of renowned chefs in Mexico or of Alejandra's own design,. These sweet snacks are becoming popular very quickly. On their first day of business last week, they sold out within six hours. La Mangonada also has menu items like strawberries and cream, the business namesake la mangonadas, and other snacks for visiting patrons. Alejandra said the idea for this business started four years ago. After a few years of acquiring inventory, and finally the right space, she says, "It really is a dream come true." She said more items will be added to the menu very soon.

La Mangonada is located at 118 South Walnut Street, and hours right now are Thursday through Saturday 11am to 9pm and Sunday 11am to 6pm.
