Hope- The Lady Cats welcomed Ashdown to Lady Cat Field on Wednesday night for a conference makeup game that became necessary due to bad weather earlier in the season. Payton Rhodes got the nod from the coaching staff to take the pitchers circle and she locked up in a pitchers duel with Zaniya Alexander of Ashdown. The game was scoreless through 4 innings of play, as both pitchers were locating well and the defenses were playing great behind them. In the top of the 5th, the Lady Panthers broke through for a couple of runs on a sac-fly and an RBI single. The Lady Cats would threaten in the 7th inning as they had runners on 1st and 3rd, but Alexander would make a good pitch and get the winning strikeout for Ashdown.
Rhodes was excellent on Wednesday in the pitchers' circle and fielded her position very well, as she had multiple put-outs. Mycah Bradley played great at third base, Ava Brown continues to make great plays night in and night out, and the outfield for the Lady Cats played extremely well, including Chyna Tolliver as she made numerous plays in CF. Offensively, not much happened at the plate for the Lady Cats, as Alexander did a great job of locating pitches. Maddison Brown did a great job of working the count at the plate for Hope, as she drew 2 walks.
Hope is back in action on Thursday as they host Spring Hill at Lady Cat Field. First pitch is set for 4:30. It should be a great game, so come out and support the Lady Cats this evening.
