Morrilton would jump out to a 1-0 lead, but that lead would not last too long, as Brianna Maclaughlin would even the score on a brilliant goal on a very nice pass from Crystal Ortiz. Four minutes later, Maclaughlin would score her second goal of the game to give the Lady Cats the lead, as Miracle Martinez continued to distribute the ball well, giving Maclaughlin the assist. The Lady Cats would take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Crystal Ortiz would get in on the scoring action, as Paola Dominguez gave her a beautiful pass to set up Ortiz's goal. A few minutes later, Miracle Martinez would find Brianna Maclaughlin for her third goal of the game, as she found the back of the net to complete the hat trick. Morrilton would score a goal late to make the count 4-2 in Hope's favor.
The defense played well on Wednesday, as they continued to limit good looks at the goal. Angelica Soto put a stamp this week, on what should be (in my opinion) an all-conference season. Brency Cabriales, Reyna Martinez, and Esme Leon continue to impress, while the back line of Angelina Soto, Jacqueline Reyna, Cristal Aguilar, and Yudit Dominguez have been the heart of this squad throughout the season.
Also, it was another great performance from Miracle Martinez, as she dished out two more assists Wednesday, totaling five assists in the last three games. Paola Dominguez, Audrey Mercado, Ari Juanes, and Crystal Ortiz are doing a great job making plays up top for the Lady Cats as well.
The Lady Cats will begin their State Tournament next Thursday. More information will be available early next week on site and opponent.
