Lady Cats Tie DeQueen 1-1

Hope Soccer Lady Cats Soccer

Hope- Tuesday night the Lady Cats hosted the visiting Lady Leopards in a very crucial conference matchup. With conference play in full swing, every game is basically a must-win for Hope from here on out, as their conference record was 2-2 heading into the match with DeQueen. Goals were at a premium as both defenses and Goalkeepers were playing extremely well. Especially Lady Cat GK Angelica Soto, who denied not one, but two penalty kicks from DeQueen. DeQueen would get on the board around halfway through the second half, as they got a little too much space and took advantage of that mishap with a nice goal. Following the Lady Leopards goal, the tempo picked up for Hope, and Brianna Maclaughlin made a heck of a cross and found an open Audrey Mercado who found the back of the net for the equalizer goal. With the game knotted at 1-1, neither team was willing to fold, as the game ended in a 1-1 tie. Stopper Brency Cabriales played great on Tuesday night, as well as Cristal Aguilar, Angelina Soto, Yudit Dominguez, Reyna Martinez, and Jacqueline Reyna all played great on the defensive side of the ball. Audrey Mercado played great all game long, as she was very aggressive in making plays for her teammates. Miracle Martinez did a great job controlling the tempo for the Lady Cats. The Lady Leopards defense did a great job of holding leading scorer Madelyne Maclaughlin under control, as she was marked basically the entire game, as it was difficult for her to get a lot of open looks. Paola Dominguez did a great job as well for the Lady Cats. But once again, the GK play from Angelica Soto kept the Lady Cats in the game early on and made a tie possible at the end of the game, as Hope secured a very valuable point in the standings.

The Lady Cats are back in action on Friday as they host Arkadelphia.
