The Lady Dragons exploded for 28 points in the opening quarter and cruised to a big win to begin the tourney over the host Redwater Lady Dragons. Twelve players scored for Genoa, as both Kelsie Fowler and Ali Pierce scored 9 points. Rylee Fike scored 7 points, and Ashlyn Cross and Jessyca Thompson each scored 5. Raelyn Douglas, Kenzie Owen, Chrissie Ellis, Traci Green, Brooklyn Cox, Brenley Ward, and Piper Neal each scored points.
GENOA CENTRAL 58 ATLANTA 22
Genoa jumped out to an early 18-2 lead over the Lady Rabbs in the first quarter and the rout was on, as the the Lady Dragons smothering defense would hold Atlanta to single digit scoring in every quarter. Ashlyn Cross led the way with 12 points. Ali Pierce scored 10. Brenley Ward added 9 points, Raelyn Douglas had 8 points, Kelsie Fowler 6 points, Rylee Fike 5 points, Emily McGuire 4 points, and Kenzie Owen and Chrissie Ellis each scored 2.
GENOA CENTRAL 59 MENA 45
The Lady Dragons started their Friday off with a 14-point win over Mena, as Kelsie Fowler torched the nets for 19 points. Brooklyn Cox poured in 11 points, as she played extremely well this weekend. Brenley Ward scored 7 points, Kenzie Owen added 6, Ali Pierce scored 5, Rylee Fike had 4, Ashlyn Cross scored 3, and Raelyn Douglas and Jessyca Thompson each had 2 points.
GENOA CENTRAL 48 QUEEN CITY 26
The Lady Dragons earned their spot in the championship game with a big 48-26 win over the Lady Bulldogs. Genoa held a 33-16 lead at the break and the defense of the Lady Dragons held Queen City to just 10 second half points en route to a 22-point win. Kelsie Fowler and Rylee Fike each scored 11 points to lead the Lady Dragons on Friday. Ali Pierce poured in 8 points, Brenley Ward scored 5, and Raelyn Douglas added 4 points. Brooklyn Cox and Jessyca Thompson each scored 3, with Emily McGuire scoring 2 and Ashlyn Cross adding a free throw.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME GENOA CENTRAL 52 MENA 50
The Lady Dragons trailed by 5 at the end of the opening quarter, but they would fight back and take the lead at the break and not look back as they won the game 52-50, as they got some big defensive stops late in the game. Brenley Ward scored a team-high 16 points on Saturday. Ali Pierce poured in 9 points, Kelsie Fowler scored 9 points, all of which came in the second half. Brooklyn Cox scored 6 points, Rylee Fike added 4 points, Jessyca Thompson hit a 3-pointer, and Kenzie Owen added 2 points. After the game, sophomore Brooklyn Cox spoke on the win, "First tournament of the season it feels great to come out with a win, it just came down to good teamwork, us having good communication and us fighting for the win." Great win for the Lady Dragons and Coach Austin Kidd, as they too care of business going an impressive 5-0 in three days.
The Lady Dragons begin conference play on Monday as they head to Smackover.
