Lady Jays Claim 2nd Place at Southwest Classic on Saturday
Hope- The Nevada Volleyball team fought hard all day on Saturday and came up just short in the finals as they dropped a tough match to the Lady Gators from Foreman. The Lady Jays beat Garrett Memorial twice on Saturday and lost twice to Foreman, including in the Championship game 25-20, 22-25, and 8-15. Below is a game by game breakdown. 

GAME 1       NEVADA 2      GMCS 0

The Lady Jays beat the Lady Saints A team 25-23 and 27-25 in two very close games. Zette Brown had 10 aces in the match for the Lady Jays and Alisha Gulley had 3 digs and 2 aces. Jillian Pinner had 1 kill and 1 dig, and CJ McCallie and Bella English each had 1 dig. 

GAME 2       NEVADA 1      FOREMAN 2

This was a tough match as the Jays claimed the opening set 25-13, but dropped the next two sets 25-27 and 9-15. Zette Brown had 3 kills, 3 aces, and 3 digs for the Lady Jays and Jillian Pinner had 3 kills and 1 ace, and 1 dig. Alisha Gulley had 1 ace, while Karleigh Carlton and CJ McCallie each had 1 ace. Bella English and Bella Petite each had 2 digs, and English added an ace. 

GAME 3      NEVADA 2    GMCS 0 

This match was all Lady Jays as they beat the Lady Saints 25-10 and 25-14. Zette Brown had 4 kills and 8 aces, as she played great all day on Saturday. CJ McCallie had 2 kills and Jill Pinner had 1 kill, 1 dig, and 4 aces. Alisha Gulley had 3 aces and 2 digs. Karleigh Carlton had 1 ace and had a lot of great sets during the match. Bella English had 1 ace. 

CHAMPIONSHIP   NEVADA 1    FOREMAN 2

Once again the Lady Jays jumped out on Foreman and won the opening set 25-20, but could not finish off the Lady Gators as it was a back and forth match that saw Foreman win the final two sets 22-25 and 8-15. Zette Brown had 7 aces, 3 digs, and 2 kills for Nevada. Jill Pinner had 3 aces and 3 digs and CJ McCallie had 3 digs and 1 ace. Leymy Contreras had 3 digs, Alisha Gulley had 2 digs, while Karleigh Carlton and Bella English each had 1 dig. 

The Lady Jays played great on Saturday and they continue to fight hard. Nevada is back in action Monday at home against Camden Harmony Grove. Jr. Game starts at 4:30
