Lady Jays Earn 61-30 Win Over Lady Saints Thursday Night
Hope- GMCS Lady Saint welcomed the Nevada Lady Blue Jays to their gym on Thursday night and a 8-point halftime lead turned into a 31 point blowout after Nevada went on a 21-6 run in the 3rd quarter to put the game out of reach. Nevada had a 3 players with 15+ points, as Jordin Haley had 17 points, Yasmine Harris had 17 (all of which came in the 2nd half), and Karleigh Carlton scored 15 points, as they Lady Jays were pouring in buckets on Thursday night. After the game senior Karleigh Carlton spoke on the Blue Jays win, "Feels really good to get our first win, we've had our struggles early but things are starting to click, we're getting back on defense getting boards and hustling.. Teammates were great tonight." Zyirhun Vines finished the game with 6 points, and Zyirannah Vines, Zette Brown, and Bella Petite each scored 2 points.

For the Lady Saints, Kat Morris had another double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and freshman Brailyn Almand shot the ball extremely well in the 2nd half, hitting two 3-pointers and another mid-range shot to bring her total to 8 points. Almand also added 6 rebounds. Baylee Pogue and Gracy Martin had 5 points, and Heaven Garcia added 2 points. Pogue added 6 rebounds and Garcia added 2 assists. Garcia had a busy night, as she played basically two full basketball games on Thursday, starting for the Jr. Team and Sr. Team. Kylie Bullock added 4 rebounds and Silbi Jones dished out 2 assists.

After the game I caught up with Lady Jays coach Eddie Beck and he had this to say about his teams win, "Definitely a relief, we've been putting pressure on ourselves, but tonight we shot good and we hope tonight gets us rolling. Good defense tonight, we felt like we did a good job limiting their top offensive player and that our defense as a whole was really good."

The Lady Jays are back in action on Tuesday as they head to Haskell Harmony Grove and the Lady Saints are back in action this Friday as they head to Hot Springs to face Gospel Light.
