Lady Saints Fall Just Short of State Title to Lakewood 30-27
Tulsa, OK- The GMCS Junior Lady Saints hit the road for the State Championship game Saturday night, as they faced off against Lakewood Christian. The game got off to a bit of a slow start for both teams, but the pace picked up as the game went on and it turned into a nail-biter.

The Lady Saints found themselves trailing by 6 with less than a minute remaining. The Lady Saints fought hard, knocked down a free throw and forced a turnover and made a layup to get within 3 points. GMCS would force a tough shot and got the rebound with just a few seconds remaining. From the other end of the court, there was a pass, a dribble, and a last-second heave and the game-tying three-pointer fell just short, as the Lady Saints great season came to an end with a 30-27 loss to Lakewood.

Brailyn Almand shot the ball very well Saturday as she led the Lady Saints with 10 points and also grabbed 5 boards. Preslee Peck scored 8 points and had 7 rebounds, Laila Santifer shot great from the free-throw line Saturday as she went 5-6 from the line and Laila also added 7 rebounds. Abby Mendoza had 4 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist. Heaven Garcia had a team-high 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Garcia and Mendoza also combined for 4 steals. I

t was a great year for the Junior Lady Saints Going from winning a state title in volleyball to becoming state runner-up in basketball speaks wonders about this group's character and determination. GMCS has a lot to look forward to with this great group. Great season!!
