Lady Saints Fall Short in State Semifinals 5-4, Finish State Tournament 2-1
Hot Springs- The Lady Saints were riding a 12-game winning streak, as they headed into a win and you're in game against Destiny. After winning the first two games of the State Tournament 10-2 and 8-2, the Lady Saints found themselves down 4-0 at one point. This young team could have easily folded and said, this is not our day, but they fought back in two separate instances where they got within one run of Destiny.

A suspect strike call at best would kill a bases loaded threat in the 6th and then in the 7th, after Baylee Pogue reached base with 2 outs, representing the tying run, another questionable called third strike ended the game. GMCS had their opportunities  in this one, as they threatened with base runners multiple times, as they would drop their game 5-4 to Destiny. The defense was great, especially up the middle, where SS Gracie Bullock (7th grader) made a diving stop with a runner of 1st base, touched 2nd with her glove and stood up and threw the runner out at first for an inning ending double play. Blayklee Glass also made a back-hand play up the middle for a key out earlier in the game. Silbi Jones pitched very well, striking out 4 and allowing just 3 hits. At the plate in the semifinal game, Raylee Adkison led the way with 2 hits. Gracie Bullock had a hit and 2 RBI, while Baylee Pogue, Silbi Jones, and Kylie Bullock each had hits. Heaven Garcia and and Lilly Murphy each scored a run.

Below are the stats for the other two games:

GMCS started off the day beating Abundant Life 10-2, as the bats woke up in the third inning. Kylie Bullock led the way with 2 hits and 3 RBI. Baylee Pogue, Gracie Bullock, Raylee Adkison, and Silbi Jones each had a hit and an RBI. Blayklee Glass had an RBI and scored a run. Josie Pinner scored twice in the game, and  Heaven Garcia, Kat Morris and Lilly Murphy all scored one run. Silbi Jones tossed 5 innings of 1 hit ball, striking out 6 batters.

In game #2, GMCS topped SCA 8-2, as Silbi Jones struck out 5 batters, walked zero, and allowed just 1 hit. At the plate, Kat Morris had a hit and an RBI. A lot of walks and aggressive baserunning took over this game, as they applied a lot of pressure on SCA. 16 stolen bases between Blayklee Glass, Gracie Bullock, Kylie Bullock, Lilly Murphy, and Raylee Adkison. Brailyn Almand had a pair of walks and Silbi Jones had a walk. Raylee Adkison had an RBI.

It was a great season for the Lady Saints, as they began the season with a lot of unknowns, but finished it on a 12-game winning streak, with a lot of promise for the future with this group. Zero seniors and only a pair of juniors are on the team, as they should be a tough squad the next handful of years.

All-Tournament players from last weekend were Baylee Pogue and Kylie Bullock.

Players receiving All-State awards were: Silbi Jones, Baylee Pogue, and Kylie Bullock.
