Lady Saints Split Pair of Games on Day 1 of State Tournament
Fort Smith- The Garrett Memorial Lady Saints headed to Fort Smith for Day 1 of the State Tourney on Monday, as they dropped their first game to Union Christian 11-3, in an outing that is far from their best. They would go on to advance further in the Tourney, with a 16-5 run-rule victory over SCA.

Silbi Jones got the nod in Game 1 of the tournament, as she looked to silence the bats of Union Christian. With the game tied at 3-3 heading into the 4th inning, the wheels sort of fell off for GMCS, as they would have a hard time keeping Union off the base-paths. They would go on to score 4 runs in the 4th and add 4 more runs in the 5th inning to pull away and take the opening game of the tournament over the Lady Saints. Evan Chambless would lead the Lady Saints at the plate, as she smashed a triple and a single, and add an RBI. Silbi Jones also roped a triple and drove in a run at the plate, and Mikayla Fields added a single. Savannah Fields would draw a pair of walks and Raylee Adkison would come around to score a run for GMCS.

In game 2 for the Lady Saints, Heaven Garcia got the start in the circle for the Lady Saints. Silbi Jones would come in relief and pick up the win for GMCS, as they would win in run-rule fashion 16-5. The Lady Saints put up crooked numbers in every inning en-route to their convincing victory. Evan Chambless smoked another triple for GMCS and drove in 4 runs at the plate. Savannah Fields had a multi-hit game, including smashing a double, and adding 2 RBI. Baylee Pogue had a triple and 2 RBI, and she caught a great game behind the plate. Raylee Adkison added a single and 2 RBI, as she is making a great impact for the Lady Saints. Charity Zumwalt added a single, a walk, an RBI, and scored 3 runs. Kynlee Glass smashed a single and drove in a run for GMCS. Blayklee Glass and Brailyn Almand would each come around to score 2 runs each. Mikayla Fields drew 2 walks and scored twice. GMCS was very active on the bases as they combined for 14 stolen bases.

GMCS is back in action tomorrow morning at 9AM against Providence Academy.
