COLLEGE STATION, Texas – LaQuan Nairn advanced to Eugene, Oregon, in the triple jump by virtue of his final attempt, but the rest of the Razorback men scheduled to compete on Friday in E.B. Cushing Stadium didn’t race as a three-hour lightning delay eventually turned into a postponement of the remaining track events.
Those events will now be held on Saturday.
Nairn produced an outdoor career best mark of 52-8 (16.05) to place ninth in the triple jump with the top 12 advancing to the NCAA Championship at Hayward Field.
Going into the third and final round of the triple jump, Nairn was in 17th place with a mark of 51-2 ¼ (15.60). He them moved into the ninth position with his third-round effort.
With the field events completed for the day, the Razorbacks 4x100 relay crew was on the way to the track venue for the start of the running session at 5:30 p.m. when the initial lightning delay was announced.
Following a series of lightning strikes over the next three hours mixed with heavy ran and wind, the decision to postpone the events for the evening  and conduct them Saturday was announced at 8:30 p.m.
