Upon arrival, the fire department observed a structure engulfed in heavy smoke along with flames coming out of the south gable vent.

A local citizen was able to assist an elderly woman from the home and then were notified that a second occupant was still in the home. Fire Department personnel and deputies from the Hempstead County Sheriff Department located the young man in the bathtub of the home. The authorities were able to rescue him and carry him to a Pafford EMS ambulance that was on standby for transport.

Fire personnel from Fulton and Guernsey Volunteer Fire Departments responded the fire as was as Hempstead County Sheriff Deputies.

No word on injuries at this time.
