Hope Police Department in Hope, Arkansas will unite with Arkansas Law Enforcement agencies in a distracted driving campaign, ‘U Drive. U Text. U Pay” initiative aimed at stopping the dangerous practice of distracted driving.  Starting October 17- 23, 2021 Hope Law Enforcement officers will increase patrol efforts to stop distracted drivers who are texting and talking on the phone while driving and fail to keep their eyes on the road.

One of the leading factors contributing to the epidemic of distracted driving is the simultaneous use of cell phones and other electronic devices to communicate while driving. The biggest distraction while driving is offenders who are using their cell phones to talk, text, or scroll through social media while they’re supposed to be in control of their vehicle.

“People know texting and driving is dangerous and illegal, but they do it anyway while putting others at risk,” said Assistant Chief Tomlin. “We have to get the message out and beginning October 17, 2021, Hope Arkansas police officers will be sending that message in the form of citations to anyone caught texting and driving.”
