Local baseball team headed to World Series

Some local ten-year-olds are about to have their dreams come true! The Arkansas Hope Dixie League All-Stars are headed to the World Series in North Carolina next month, and these boys have been working enthusiastically and vigorously to raise the funds in order to make these dreams a reality. They have traveled all over Southwest Arkansas participating in various fundraisers, as well as garnering donations and sponsorships from individuals and businesses. The team Facebook page is filled with photos of the various people and organizations who have donated, sponsored, assisted, or just lent a helping hand.

They aren't finished yet, though. They still need to raise more in order to make the trip, and numerous fundraisers are scheduled for the next few weeks. Plus, they are still accepting donations and sponsors. Once the World Series is over, all sponsors will be printed on a banner that will be placed at the ball field.

Second baseman Kase Lemley said baseball is his favorite sport and that he and his teammates are really looking forward to playing in the World Series. "We're really excited about getting to play baseball in another state," Lemley said. "We want to win the whole thing."

Be on the lookout for Kase and his teammates at Walmart this Saturday where they will be having a bake sale, and next week you will find them at Chicken Express for a fundraiser. Also, the team has a raffle taking place, and a player's uncle is having an auction this Friday to assist in fundraising. All information about fundraisers, as well as contact info for those who wish to donate or sponsor, can be found on the team Facebook page. The sponsorship levels can be found in the document below, in addition to the full team roster.

Next stop for these boys? North Carolina on August 5th for the opening ceremony of the World Series! The team will face off against Tennessee first.
