Local Elementary Schools to Benefit from Book Donations
PRESCOTT — First United Methodist Church (FUMC) and Hamilton Haven are extending their book donation program.

The two Prescott organizations donated books to Prescott Elementary School (PES) in 2023. This year Blevins’ Randy Hughes Elementary and Nevada Elementary School will also receive books.

The project is a joint effort between FUMC, Hamilton Haven, and Ferncliff Camp & Conference Center.

Ferncliff Camp & Conference Center, located about 10 miles west of Little Rock, is known for its summer camp program.

“We are excited to expand this program to additional schools in our community,” said Leslie Hughes, Hamilton Haven administrative assistant. “It’s important to support our children.”

FUMC and Hamilton Haven volunteers will visit the schools on Thursday, May 2 and Friday, May 3 to deliver books.

Principals of the schools in this year’s project expressed their appreciation.

“This is wonderful for our students,” said PES principal Kimberly Grimes. “We appreciate Hamilton Haven and First United Methodist Church’s interest in supporting our school.”

“We are pleased that Hamilton Haven and First United Methodist Church chose our school,” Randy Hughes Elementary principal Natalie Jones said. “Encouraging reading is a key component in education, particularly for younger students.”

“We are looking forward to it,” said Tonda Pennington, Nevada Elementary School principal. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for our students.”
