As Valentine’s Day approaches, area florists and bakers are working hard to bring special offerings that are sure to put a smile on your loved one’s face. Whether a floral arrangement, a snack pack, or any number of baked goods, these local shops have you covered.

Hope Floral & Gifts

Owner Wendel McCorkle has been in business since 1978, and has been through almost 25 Valentine’s Days in the flower business. McCorkle said that, classically, roses are a big buy for Valentine’s Day. They’re the same price all year around, and McCorkle and his crew do arrangements from one to four dozen. They also offer mixed arrangements with roses.

Like many other florists, McCorkle says that they do a lot of “snack packs” for men and teenagers. While they mainly offer flowers, they also have stuffed animals and other gifts available.

McCorkle said that Valentine’s Day will be particularly tough this year, as it’s on a Monday, and the prep work leading up to it will take up a lot of the week leading up to it. As a flower shop, McCorkle mentioned that they’re full-service, even during the holidays, so their usual funeral and other arrangements will still be available. He shared a story about one particular Valentine’s Day when a young couple stopped by to pick up a wedding bouquet on their way out of town. They wanted to get married before their trip, so McCorkle and his staff rounded up a judge, dressed the bride, and had the wedding in their big display window.

The Picket Fence

Owner Elena Smillie has only had her business in Hope for about eight years, but The Picket Fence operated in Prescott for over a decade before moving to town. She’s a veteran florist of several Valentine’s Days, and has had success with a variety of holiday offerings.

The Picket Fence, Smillie said, offers signature arrangements that vary from year to year, but have proven very popular. They also offer specialty gift baskets for both men and women, as well as a variety of themed gift baskets for schools and sports teams. As well, they carry plushies, fresh flowers, and decorated cookies and cupcakes. Smillie said they’ve also had good luck with their chocolate-covered strawberries and Sweet Treat boxes, which have a variety of different items including cookies, brownies, and marshmallow pops.

Two Crumbs

This Hope bakery run by Melina Adams and Tara Fleming features not only baked goods, but also a variety of take-and-bake meals for those wanting an intimate evening at home, though not necessarily wanting to cook. They also offer pies, cookies, and brownies, all made from scratch. For Valentine’s Day, they are also offering chocolate-covered strawberries in boxes of four and six, as well as Heartbreaker Boxes, which are big hollow chocolate hearts filled with goodies. They even come with a little wooden mallet to break them open.

Little Tea Pot Bakery

The Little Tea Pot Bakery is run by Kindalyn Williams, who started the business about two years ago, but has been baking and selling cakes since 2013. Williams said that she currently has preorders open for some of her offerings, which include gourmet strawberries covered in a variety of toppings including coconut, peanuts, and chocolate. She’s also featuring Heartbreaker Boxes, as well as charcuterie boards and wine boxes which offer a more adult taste (though you have to provide your own wine). Many of her normal baked goods will have special pricing for the holiday.

Owner Kaylea Martin has been in business since 2018, and offers a variety of goodies for those who are looking for the perfect gift for that special someone. In addition to flower arrangements, they also offer snack packs and cupcakes, as well as take-and-bake casseroles and a variety of Valentine’s baskets with candle and arrangements.

Martin also has a range of special offerings for Valentine’s, including caramel, chocolate, and white chocolate dipped apples, Oreo truffles, and white chocolate-dipped Ritz. They also have a selection of drinks and smoothies if your sweetie wants something to quench their thirst.

The Charlotte Rose has been serving Prescott for several years, and owner Angie Wren has a beautiful selection of flowers and gifts available for her customers. In addition, she said, her shop will be open daily and they offer free delivery within Prescott city limits.

Owner Erin Beard has been in business in Prescott for several years. She offers a wide variety of flower arrangements, roses, plushies, and snack packs for her customers.
