Local photos capture rare aurora showing in southwest Arkansas

Aurora Solar Flares Fair Park Coronal Mass Ejections

Friday night and the next three nights will be impacted by the most active day the sun has had since 2003. A series of solar flares and coronal mass ejections began hitting the earth late Friday afternoon.

These photos were taken Friday night of the northern sky around 9:00 p.m. Some are from the soccer field at Fair Park. Some are from the grounds of the Hope Country Club.
