Local Resident Performs in Shakespeare in the Park “Virtual”

Press Release, Josh Williams

It's still not too late to sign up for Shakespeare in the Park "Virtual" at Historic Washington State Park. Like with everything this year, Shakespeare in the Park is different due to COVID restrictions. The American Shakespeare Center Troupe is not touring the country this year but is providing other avenues to share their creative talent by bringing a performance of William Shakespeare's comedy "Twelfth Night" directly to your home.

This year is different, but it is also special. One of the performers involved in the production is a local resident from Texarkana, Texas that was introduced to the American Shakespeare Center by the performances at Historic Washington State Park. Cat M. Thomas, daughter of David and Chris Thomas of Texarkana, Texas grew up in the area. She attended almost all of the performances of Shakespeare in the Park since it began in 2011. She graduated from Texas High School in Texarkana in 2015 and went on to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Houston in 2019. She attended the Theater Camp for students offered by the American Shakespeare Center in Staunton, Virginia while in high school. In "Twelfth Night" she performs the role of Curio and an officer. Her biography can be seen at https://americanshakespearecenter.com/people/cat-m-thomas/.

Sign up now and support one of our local residents from the Ark-La-Tex region.

Registration deadline for the show is Friday, February 26. Access to the video is FREE. Call 870-983-2684 to reserve the video and provide a valid email address. A weblink to watch the video will be sent to the email address provided. Funding for this opportunity is covered by the Patterson-Troike Foundation and other partners.
