LITTLE ROCK - Arkansas’s Lottie Shackelford has been re-elected to serve as an At-large Delegate to the Democratic National Committee. Shackelford was also re-appointed to the Resolutions Committee at Saturday’s DNC Fall Meeting. She continues to serve as DNC Vice Chair Emeritus and as Chair of the DNC Women’s Caucus.

“I am of course very appreciative and humbled by this opportunity to continue serving the DNC and our nation in this way. I’m proud to say that Arkansas Democrats can be very pleased with the delegation our state has representing us at the DNC: Chair Grant Tennille, Vice Chair Nicole Hart, DNC Committeewoman Johnnie Roebuck, and DNC Committeeman Jay Barth,” said Lottie Shackelford. “This is an exciting time for our party, and together we are building strong in Arkansas.”

In 1987, the Honorable Lottie Shackelford became the first woman to serve as Mayor of Little Rock. To this day, she remains the capital city’s only female African American mayor. She served as Chair of the Democratic Party of Arkansas and holds the distinction of being the longest serving Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee.

Shackelford also served as Co-Chair of the Platform Committee in 1984 and of the Rules Committee in 1988. She was appointed Co-Chair of the 1988 Democratic National Convention, held in Atlanta, Georgia.
