Today at McRae Middle School Terry Oliver, Mayor of Prescott signed a proclamation to mark March 2nd, 2020 as Imagination Library of Nevada County Day.

"I call upon all citizens of our great county to read with our children," said Mayor Terry C. Oliver as he held the framed proclamation out for the preschool age children and guests to see.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth until they begin school in participating areas.

Gloria Majors, when asked about Imagination Library and what it means to McRae Middle School spoke about the importance of reading to children at an early age and getting awareness to the public with the signing of the proclamation.

"What we are trying to do with the proclamation is to make it more visible to the community about what the Imagination Library is and what they're doing for the students in the community. We are real excited because it is from zero to five years old so the minute they are born we start contacting parents and trying to get them to sign up for the Imagination Library," Majors said.
