Hempstead County has had different movie theatres over the years from the Saenger to the Rialto in downtown Hope. The Hempstead County Historical Society would like to showcase a movie that was shown in those theatres. For this Christmas Season, come out to see the wonderful holiday classic “It’s A Wonderful Life” that was first played in Hempstead County at the Rialto Theatre on Main Street in July 1947.

The movie will be shown at Hempstead Hall on Friday, December 15 at 7pm. Doors open at 6pm. Admission is $5 per person. Children under 6 years of age are free. Come early and enjoy a piece of cake to celebrate the birthday of Hempstead County before the movie.

The Historical Society seeks to bring awareness to the rich heritage and history of Hempstead County. Come and share your history with us.
