HOPE – A potential candidate for political office and an aspiring psychologist with varied athletic interests were named Mister and Miss Hope High School here Feb. 28 in an evening of glamor and talent at the Hope High School Auditorium.

Sophomore Richard Ware was named Mister HHS and senior Britney Alvarado was crowned Miss HHS.

Ware is active in band, Quiz Bowl and the EAST program at HHS, while making time for community service and playing piano for residents at Heather Manor. He is an avid football fan and player, a “huge fan” of the Star Wars saga, and a video gamer.

After graduation from HHS, Ware said he intends to study political science and music education in college with the intent to become a music educator and, ultimately enter politics.

Ware is the son of HHS EAST lab teacher Adrianne Ware.

Alvarado is active in Ladycat Soccer, HHS cross country, ROTC, HHS Student Council, and National Honor Society. She is in her senior year, anticipating study at the University of Arkansas-Hope for two years and completing studies in psychology at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.

Alvarado said she also has interests in studying interior design and cosmetology, as she enjoys fashion and couture. She is a fan of TikTok, and television’s “The Office” and “All American,” as well as an avid reader, who most recently enjoyed “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.”

Alvarado enjoys drawing, singing, dancing, photography and community service; and, her favorite class at HHS is chemistry.

Alvarado is the daughter of Rito and Ana Alvarado.

Runners-up were Giovanni Randle, a senior who intends to study sports medicine to become a professional or university athletic trainer; and, Kathy Rogel, a senior who is president of the HHS Future Business Leaders of America chapter and a member of National Honor Society, with an interest in obtaining a degree in social work.

Junior Brittney Martinez won second place in the Miss HHS competition, while senior Audrianna Collins and senior Alaya Pearson tied for third place.

People’s Choice awards went to Randle and Martinez. Richard Ware won the talent division and Lavon Glover placed second.
