National Drought Mitigation Center shows Hempstead, Nevada in dry zones
The October 10th map of drought conditions released by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's National Drought Mitigation Center shows that Hempstead County is within a zone labeled "Moderate Drought" and much of Nevada County is labeled "Abnormally Dry."

The most severe drought in Arkansas is in the northwestern counties of Benton and Carroll. Drought conditions there are designated "Extreme." But dry conditions short of extreme have impacted most of the southwestern two-thirds of the state.

Hempstead County has been in a burn ban since Monday October 7th.
