Located at 1301 E. 3rd Street in Hope, Neighbors has served the community faithfully for more than three decades and now, with a major remodel complete, it’s ready to serve a new generation of customers.
The store’s transformation is evident from the moment you walk in. From new paint and modern counters to an inviting layout designed for convenience, Neighbors has been remodeled top to bottom. The owners have also added new menu items, including their now-signature 3rd Street Wings which guests got to sample after the ribbon cutting.
Executive Director of the Hope Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce, Christy Burns, helped celebrate the milestone alongside city and community leaders.
“We’re so thankful to have Neighbors right here in our community,” Burns said. “It’s a place that truly lives up to its name. They’ve always been friendly, reliable, and committed to serving Hope and this remodel just shows their continued investment in being great neighbors to us all.”
Hope Mayor Don Still also spoke during the event, thanking the owners for their dedication to the city.
“We appreciate the Cox family for continuing to invest in Hope,” Mayor Still said. “It’s great to see the community come out and support a local business that’s been part of our hometown for so many years.”
Owners Mike and Daphne Cox shared their gratitude and reflected on the store’s long history in Hope, recognizing their business partners Ken and Susan Cox, who were represented by their son Trey Cox, and introducing their daughter Allison Sitzes and husband, John.
“It’s pretty much a family deal here,” Mike said with a smile. “We’ve been here for 33 years, built it in ’92 and this is the first major remodel we’ve done. We’ve had a few refreshes along the way, but this is the first big one.”
Mike went on to speak about the heart of their business; service, quality, and community.
“I don’t care how good the building looks if we don’t give great service and quality products in a clean environment, it won’t work,” he said. “So we’re reemphasizing all of that, and really putting a focus on the food. We want everyone to come in and enjoy it.”
Before inviting guests inside, Mike announced with a grin that everyone would be treated to “three pieces of heaven,” the store’s new 3rd Street Wings, which quickly proved to be a hit among the crowd.
With family, community leaders, and loyal customers gathered to celebrate, the Neighbors team marked not only a remodel, but a renewed commitment to serving Hope with the same neighborly care that’s defined them for more than 30 years.
Whether you’re grabbing a snack, a slice of pizza, or a box of those famous wings, Neighbors continues to be exactly what its name promises, a true neighbor to all.
