At the motion of Justice of the Peace Willie Wilson and JP Dennis Pruitt’s second, the court also voted to compensate Hale $1,274.92 for performing the job of both deputy county treasurer and treasurer prior to her effective promotion in title and salary at Tuesday’s meeting.
Hale’s deputy will be Carol Tyree, who, along with Hale, will have signature access to the county’s bank accounts.
The court also passed an ordinance required yearly which approves the various millages in the various municipalities of the county. “There were no increases, no changes. So it's the same as last year,” County Clerk Tammie Rose said.
In reports, Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director said the chamber is in “holiday-mode,” having seen 71 children adopted into the Giving Tree program, which provides children in lower-income households with necessities during the Christmas season. She said volunteers to wrap presents would be welcome.
The chamber is also involved in updating its community directory, which will include taking new photos of county officials. She also said Nevada and Prescott schools will have community coffees in the next two weeks. Thursday will be Nevada’s. Next Thursday’s will be Prescott’s.
Stacy Stone, of the Nevada County Extension Service, said he welcomed questions about the annual report his office presented to the court. He also said his office had sponsored Fun Fridays so that students who are out of school on Fridays will have something to do. Most recently, 11 children attended from Prescott schools. A program involving the baking of cookies will take place at the library December 17th.
JP Curtis Lee Johnson was the only Quorum Court member not present, having suffered a health set back, but it was noted at the end of the meeting that December would be the last meeting for him in 45 years as a Justice of the Peace. State Senator Steve Crowell has arranged for Johnson to be provided with an award for his public service.
