Herman Brown, second from left, a resident at Prescott's The Springs of Hillcrest Rest and Rehabilitation, had his 100th birthday celebration Friday June 16. Brown fought in WW2 as part of General Douglas MacArthur's campaign to liberate the Philippines, winning several awards in that campaign and in other operations. Later Brown worked at Firestone back before it was fully devoted to roofing material and then, with wife Bobby, owned and ran several Sonic Drive-ins in Southwest Arkansas, according to Jones.
