Nevada Hoops Post Comeback Win over Kirby 58-55
Nevada- Cardi Adair sank a free throw with 8 seconds remaining in the game to put the Jays up by 3 points. A great Nevada defensive possession followed the free throw to seal the win for the Blue Jays over a very good Kirby team, as the Blue Jays improved to 6-0. Coach Bell spoke after the win, "Man it feels great to come away with a win at home, it was a tough basketball game against a great coached team." Nevada found themselves in an unfamiliar situation Tuesday night as they were trailing 34-28 at the half. The Blue Jays would outscore the Trojans 30-21 in the second half, as the defense put the clamps on a very good offense to secure the 58-55 win. This special group of Blue Jays do not win this game without elite leadership and their must-win mentality, very impressive to see a team this early in the season win a game like tonight against a very well-coached and talented Kirby team when their shots weren't falling. If I had to describe this Blue Jays team tonight in one word, it would be resilient. Kavion Coleman led the Blue Jays tonight with 21 points, as he continues to find ways to put points on the board, Kavion knocked down a big time jumper tonight in the final 2 minutes. Brycten Harris continues to be the general of this team as he had 15 points Tuesday, including a huge 3-pointer late in the 4th quarter, Brycten also played great defensively with 5 steals. Keyonte Wingfield had 11 points, 8 asssists and played great on both sides of the court. Brogan Rhodes knocked down some huge buckets tonight as he ended with 8 points and 6 boards. Cardi Adair had 3 points (all in the final 2 minutes of the game), 8 rebounds including 7 of those were offensive to keep possessions alive. Kavion Coleman spoke on the win Tuesday after the game, "We fought back, played hard and found a way to win." Nevada travels to Summerfield, LA on Friday night for a non-conference matchup.

The Jr. Blue Jays were in a very tight game going into the final quarter, but exploded for 20 points in the 4th quarter to win the game 50-40. Monti Mixon went bananas in the 2nd half and ended the night with 27 points. Rico Aparico had 12 points for Nevada, including some really big free throws late in the game, Rico also handled the ball well throughout the game. The Jr. Jays will be back in action on Thursday in the Hampton Tourney.
