"We played well tonight, we have to keep playing hard entering the back-half of conference play," Coach Jamario Bell said after the win Tuesday. A 26-point outburst to start the game in the first quarter set the tone for the Jays, as Brycten Harris got the scoring going early from the free throw line, knocking down 6 free throws in the opening quarter and scoring 11 points total in the first.
Nevada also hit four 3-pointers to open the game early on. The Blue Jays took a 42-21 lead into the half and then Kavion Coleman came out on fire in the third quarter, leading the Jays to 25 points in the third quarter as he scored 17 points in the third quarter to help Nevada put the game out of reach. The Blue Jays would cruise to a 78-45 point victory.
Coleman and Harris would combine for 48 points, Kavion with 25, Brycten with 23 points. Kobe Hughey would score 7 points, Brogan Rhodes and Cardi Adaire would each score 6 points. Justin Myrick (5), Keyonte Wingfield (3), Nijhae Nolan (2), and BJ Evans (1) rounded out the Jays scoring.
The Blue Jays shot 85% from the free throw line Tuesday and knocked down 9 three-pointers. Defense was sound for Nevada as they allowed under 50-points for the third time in conference play.
Nevada heads to Dermott on Friday for a big-time matchup against the Rams. A road win for the Blue Jays would give them a 2-game lead over everyone in the conference.
