Nevada Wins Conference Opener Over Emerson
Nevada- The Blue Jays (7-2) started off conference play on the right track Friday night with a 79-56 blowout win over Emerson, as the defense showed up and a very balanced offense that saw three Nevada hoopers in double-figures and two more players with 8 points. 

Nevada jumped out to an early 21-10 lead in the opening quarter thanks to some great defense and great shooting early on as Kavion Coleman, Keyonte Wingfield, and Justin Myrick each hit 3-pointers in the first quarter. 

Brycten Harris scored seven of his 19 points in the opening eight minutes of the game. Emerson would cut into the lead before halftime as they would outscore the Blue Jays 21-15 in the second quarter. Nevada would take a 36-31 lead at the break. 

Coach Jamario Bell preaches how important the first four minutes out of halftime is, and his guys came out and delivered. Kavion Coleman would score 10 of his game-high 25 points in the third quarter to help the Blue Jays outscore the Pirates 22-13 in the third quarter to take a 58-44 lead in the final quarter. 

Great defense to finish the game would allow the Jays to continue to extend their lead as they would pull away for a 23-point victory. Kavion Coleman led Nevada in scoring as he continues to play well with 25 points and 7 rebounds. Brycten Harris played a great game as he dropped 19 points and added 8 assists. 

Recently named SWARK.Today player of the week, Keyonte Wingfield added 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists with 2 steals and he continues to bring energy to the floor for the Jays. Cardi Adair and Justin Myrick each added 8 points for Nevada. Adair had 8 rebounds and Myrick had 3 steals. 

The Blue Jays have a busy week upcoming as they have a tournament in Bradley and two conference home games, Tuesday against Bearden and Friday vs Dermott.
