The Nevada County Quorum Court met last night and with no new business on the agenda, project updates and announcements took center stage. Judge Glass announced that bids for the Nubbin Hill project would open today, January 12. Once the winning bid is accepted and construction starts, the bridge will be closed for approximately 60 days. Alternate routes into the Nubbin Hill community during that time period are being explored. Other business of the night consisted of financials approval, committee reports, and guest questions/announcements.
Citizens from Falcon addressed the court with an inquires about ownership of the community's cemetery and an announcement of a new store in Falcon: Arkansaw Territory Country Café & Market. The store is open 5:30am-4:00pm Monday through Friday and 6:00am-4:00 pm Saturday. The grill closes at 2pm each day, and a menu with a variety of selections is available. Currently lunch specials are offered Monday, Wednesday, Friday with Fridays dedicated to a fish plate.
SWARK.Today spoke with the cafe's owner, Regina Irizarry, and learned more details about things to come for the new business. Irizarry says they are hoping to expand hours soon to include Friday-night steak dinners. She also said if the current daily lunch specials become successful with customers, the grill will increase the number of days those are offered. Arkansaw Territory Country Café & Market is located at 3780 Hwy 53 in Falcon and more details can be found on their Facebook page.
