FAYETTEVILLE - Arkansas Coach Sam Pittman is reaching back to another Georgia connection in hiring Southern Miss assistant Cody Kennedy as tight ends coach, according to a report Tuesday by Bruce Feldman of The Athletic and FOX Sports.
The University of Georgia’s offensive line coach from 2016-2019, Pittman had Kennedy serving as his Georgia offensive line grad assistant in 2017.
Kennedy moved on to full-time assistant coaching status as offensive line coach at Tulane and offensive line coach/run game coordinator at Southern Miss.
On second-year Arkansas coach Pittman’s staff with connections to the State of Georgia are special teams coordinator Scott Fountain, formerly the University of Georgia special teams coordinator, running backs coach Jimmy Smith, formerly an assistant at Georgia State, and head strength coach Jamil Walker and assistant strength coach Ed Ellis formerly at Georgia.
Whenever his hiring is completed, Kennedy would replace Jon Cooper as tight ends coach.
Previously, Pittman has hired Kenny Guiton as receivers coach and
promoted quality control defensive coach Michael Scherer to linebackers coach.
