FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 11 Arkansas wrapped up the regular season with a 4-3 loss to Ole Miss in Saturday’s series finale at Bogle Park. Arkansas finishes the regular season with a 36-15 overall record and a 14-10 mark in league play.
Up next, the Razorbacks trek to Auburn, Ala., for the SEC Tournament on May 7-11 at Jane B. Moore Field. Official seeding and scheduling for the tournament will be announced at a later date.
The Rebels struck with a two-run first inning after pounding a two-RBI double. Arkansas quickly responded with two outs in the home half of the first. Cylie Halvorson cut Ole Miss’ lead to 2-1 after smashing an RBI single to right that scored Reagan Johnson from third. Then, Hannah Gammill’s RBI double to right center plated Halvorson and evened the game at 2-2.
With two outs in the fourth, Ole Miss cracked an RBI double down the right field line to regain its lead with a 3-2 advantage. The Rebels increased their lead to 4-2 in the sixth on a sacrifice fly.
In the bottom of the sixth, Kennedy Miller mashed her eighth home run of the season – a solo home run – to pull the Hogs within one run, but Arkansas was unable to scrap together runs in the seventh inning.
Arkansas utilized three arms Saturday night with RHP Reis Beuerlein making her ninth start of the season. Beuerlein went 3.0 frames, giving up two earned runs on four hits. RHP Morgan Leinstock replaced Beurlein in the circle to begin the fourth. Leinstock retired the first two batters she faced before walking a batter and then giving up an RBI double to right field to give Ole Miss a 3-2 lead. Leinstock retired the side in the fifth before giving up a leadoff double to left center in the sixth. LHP Robyn Herron entered in the circle and spun 2.0 scoreless frames in relief while limiting the Rebels to one hit and fanning three.
