FAYETTEVILLE - No. 3 Arkansas soccer opened SEC play with a 1-0 shutout victory over LSU on Thursday night at Razorback Field. The win was the program's 350th all-time.
Despite scoring one goal, the Hogs (6-0-1, 1-0-0 SEC) had many chances throughout but couldn't finish until sophomore forward Bella Field netted the game-winner in the 71st minute, her fourth goal of the season.
Freshman midfielder Lily Boydstun hit a long ball that found forward Ava Tankersley on the other side of the field. Tankersley took one touch to connect with an open Field inside the 18-yard box. Boydstun notched her second career assist and Tankersley added her team-leading sixth of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Keegan Smith recorded three saves to pick up her second solo shutout of her young career.
Arkansas finished the match ahead in shots, 12-9.
The win ended a two-match streak of ties between the Hogs and Tigers (5-3-1, 0-1-0 SEC), a series that is traditionally played very close on the pitch with Arkansas' record against LSU now 12-15-5.
