GAINESVILLE – The No. 5 Razorbacks contend for a fourth consecutive SEC Outdoor Championship this Thursday through Saturday as the University of Florida hosts the conference meet.

 

The Razorbacks were the last program to claim four consecutive SEC Outdoor Championships, from 2003 to 2006.

 

National rankings entering the meet have 11 league teams among the top 25. The Big 12 follows with five teams among the top 25.

 

Florida is ranked No. 1 nationally followed by Texas A&M, LSU, Alabama, Arkansas among the top five. Auburn follows at No. 10 with Kentucky No. 12, Tennessee No. 14, Mississippi State No. 15, South Carolina No. 20, and Georgia No. 22.

 

Within conference rankings, which measures team depth, the leader heading into the SEC Championships is Texas A&M followed by Florida, Arkansas, LSU, and Tennessee. 

 

The SEC Championships will stream live on SEC Network + on Thursday and Friday, then on SEC Network for Saturday. Times listed below are CT.

Eleven scorers from 2023 for the Razorbacks return in nine events, including two-time defending conference champion Wayne Pinnock in the long jump.

 

Another victory for Pinnock would make him the first three-time long jump champion since Arkansas’ Alain Bailey from 2008-10. An additional Razorback three-time winner in the event is Erick Walder from 1992-94.

The Arkansas combined events group scored 28 points at 2024 SEC Indoor with Yariel Soto Torrado the winner in a 1-2-3-5 Razorback finish. The most recent UA athlete to win the SEC Outdoor decathlon is Kevin Lazas from 2012.

 

Heading into the conference meet the Razorbacks rank 1-2 in the league with Jack Turner (7,873) and Soto Torrado (7,834).

 

Arkansas totaled 22 points at the 2023 SEC Outdoor meet in the 5,000m and 10,000m race and those two events could supply quality points once again. Racing in the 10,000m on the first night of the conference meet are Patrick Kiprop, Jacob McLeod, Myles Richter, Josh Shearer, and Kirami Yego.
