May 28, 2024

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The number of fatalities attributed to the weekend’s severe weather event has decreased from eight to seven based on updated information.

The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management received confirmation late Monday, May 27, from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office that a fatality reported on Sunday, May 26, was not related to weekend weather as was previously believed.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we adjust data as updated information becomes available,” said ADEM Director A.J. Gary. “We will continue to keep the public apprised of developments as we receive information.”

The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) is the state's homeland security and preparedness agency. The agency works to identify and lessen the effects of emergencies, disasters and threats to Arkansas by developing effective prevention, preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery actions for all disasters and emergencies.
