Hope Water Amp Light Oakhaven 1 30 Water Tank Pressure Test
Oakhaven Hope Water & Light customers may see water pipe flow differences, water discoloration during pressure test May 17

PRESS RELEASE

Hope Water & Light customers in the Oakhaven Area may notice slight changes in their water
service on May 17, 2022 as the water department conducts a pressure test using the I-30 water
tank with the Oakhaven tank closed off. Some fire hydrants will be used to monitor pressure and
conduct some flushing as needed. Work will begin about 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022
and continue for most of the day.

When conducting this pressure test water in some pipes will flow in the opposite direction, and the water may be discolored for short periods of time.

Water service will not be turned off during the pressure test. Therefore, customers may
experience fluctuating water pressure and/or discolored water during the pressure test. The
discolored water is not a health threat. However, IT MAY STAIN FABRICS IF USED FOR
LAUNDRY PURPOSES. Residents are encouraged to first check their water for color before
cooking, bathing or washing clothes. If you notice discolored water in your private water
system, do not run any appliances that require water until you take the following steps:

1) Turn on each cold water faucet in your home or business. Allow the water to run a
few minutes until it is clear.

2) After Step (1) is complete, then flush each toilet two times.

If, after following these steps, you still have discolored water in your water system, wait two or
three hours and repeat the above process. This should give the water system time to return to
normal.

If you still have discoloration, please call Hope Water & Light at 777-3000.

The purpose of this pressure test is to determine the procedures to follow if the Oakhaven tank
has to be taken out of service for maintenance and/or painting. We would like to thank you in
advance for your cooperation and understanding, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused
by this pressure test.
