It’s Downtown Live time again and the September 13 Downtown Live has a special Gospel Music theme. Musical performances this month will include Blackstrap performing at Cafe Lucille, Special Reserve, Crookneck Chandler, Special Reserve, Bryan Gafford, Ryan & Leah Rainer featuring Samantha Miller, the Apostolic Tabernacle choir, Texas Middle School Choir, Texas High Choir, and more!
"There's something so special about Downtown Live. The atmosphere these events create is truly energizing,” said Lani Crump of the music duo Jody & Lani. “What a gift to see local businesses, the community, and the arts come together to celebrate Texarkana's history and future. We can't wait to share our music and be part of something so special."
Jody Crump was formerly a member of the band Pocket Full of Rocks, while Lani worked behind the scenes in the music industry. The couple combined their love for music when they began leading worship together and writing songs for their church. This will be their first appearance at Downtown Live.
Live art remains a big part of Downtown Live’s cultural offerings. Area artists set up on the picturesque streets of Historic downtown Texarkana to share their creativity with the community. Artists such as Sarah Grace, Hadlei Givens, and Colton Barker will be featured at this month’s event.
“I love participating in Downtown Live,” said muralist and painter Darlene Taylor, a frequent participant. “It’s my favorite thing every month.”
