Open Air Market Brings Vendors, Crafters Together

The Hub housed a variety of vendors on Saturday morning in downtown Hope. From woodcrafts to jams and jellies, clothing and seasonings, there was something for everyone at the Open Air Market.

While the temperature stayed around 90 degrees, people in attendance enjoyed the shade of the pavilion, cold drinks, and snow cones while Big Mac’s BBQ truck kept the area smelling like summertime as the scent of slow-cooked meats filled the air.

One stall, run by Marchele Warren, was selling jewelry. Warren said she has been selling for about three years now, and hopes to open a storefront soon.

An entire aisle of the market seemed devoted to woodwork as area crafters showed off benches, shelves, and all manner of artisan goods. One crafter, Sam Raff, had several types of wood-bodies pens, letter openers. His neighbor, Mary Floyd, was selling chances at winning a quilt made by Hope Quilt Guild which, she said, will be drawn for in mid-October. The guild, she said, can be found on Facebook.
