help place food items in bags at today's Spaghetti lunch prepared by Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church.

Beginning at 11:00 a.m. today, volunteers at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church began serving and delivering delicious lunches of Spaghetti Bolognese, salad, breadsticks and sponge cake to ticket buyers who drove up to the entrance. Delivery orders are also available. Food will continue to be served until 7:00 p.m. tonight.

Inside the church, about eight people worked in the kitchen boiling spaghetti, browning the meat, heating the sauce while just outside in the dining hall, more than a dozen packed bags with the entree, salad, breadsticks, cake, napkins and plastic utensils.

Church-member Jennifer Gentry wrote to us that while she is new to the area and to the church, she could quickly see that the Spaghetti Lunch here is an event that calls forth the sense of tradition and the family-spirit of those doing the organizing, the cooking and the deliveries.:"Before we had zip codes we had fathers and sons stirring sauce. Before the 8 track, we had mothers and daughters baking bundt cakes and fresh rolls. In a time when traditions feel undervalued and obsolete, the town of Hope and OLOGH Church are taking a firm stand to carry on this piece of community heritage. They have adapted with time, but the heart and soul of it all remains steadfast.  It isn't just a fundraiser, it is a generations long family tradition. "

In addition, those involved in food preparation, sales and delivery show the commitment of Our Lady of Good Hope's volunteers from a true cross-section of Hope, Gentry wrote. "It is truly beautiful how this group, all ages, walks of life, and abilities, comes together to create something so impressive."
