ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host Bella Owen in her sophomore voice recital on Friday, April 23, at 2 p.m. in McBeth Recital Hall. Seating is limited to current students, faculty and staff due to continued COVID-19 precautions; the recital will be available at no cost to the general public via www.livestream.com/obu.
Owen is a sophomore musical theatre major from Jonesboro, Ark. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota international music fraternity for women, and Alpha Psi Omega national theatre honor society. She is a student of Dr. Natilan Crutcher, visiting assistant professor of music, and Matthew Murry, visiting assistant professor of theatre.
Owen will begin the recital with “Già il sole dal Gange” by Alessandro Scarlatti. She also will perform “An die Nachtigall” by Franz Schubert, “Le Rossignol des lilas” by Reynaldo Hahn, Richard Rodgers’ “Johnny One Note” from Babes in Arms and Stephen Sondheim’s “There’s Always a Woman” from Anyone Can Whistle. Owen will close with Stephen Flaherty’s “Crossing a Bridge” from Anastasia.
Owen will be accompanied on piano by Susan Monroe, Ouachita staff accompanist, and assisted by Ashlynn Lockhart, a junior musical theatre major from Holiday Island, Ark.
Craig Crawford, a junior instrumental performance and communications & media/multimedia double major from Texarkana, Texas, also will present his junior recital at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 23, in McBeth Recital Hall.
