Patterson Named Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year at UA Hope-Texarkana

HOPE/TEXARKANA, AR – May 17, 2023

Each year, the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana honors an outstanding faculty member of the year. UAHT is proud to announce that this year's winner is Gabrielle Patterson. Patterson serves as a History Instructor at the college since January 2020.

According to her nomination letters, "Gabrielle is the model of what a community college instructor should be. She is passionate about her classes, her students, and her campus. I honestly think she is constantly asking the question, 'How can I make UAHT a better place?' She consistently goes above and beyond in her work. She is a true team player who is always willing to lend a helping hand and offer valuable insights to colleagues. Her 'let's get it done' attitude and strong work ethic have not only been inspiring to those around her but have also played a significant role in UAHT's success."

"Patterson has made significant contributions to UAHT by participating in multiple projects and activities on campus," the letters continued. "She has played a critical role in making the History Club a success, being an attentive advisor and leader, and serving on Faculty Senate. Ms. Patterson has been an excellent example of showing up, even doing things as simple as demonstrating her impressive softball skills, helping at the haunted house, and participating in Women's History Month events. She is always willing to take on new challenges and work tirelessly to ensure they are completed to the highest standards. She is also a fantastic teacher in the classroom. She expects a lot from her students but also knows how to motivate them to improve. It's a difficult thing to be known as a 'tough' instructor but also to have students enjoy your class and want to take more of your courses. Gabrielle manages to walk that fine line with distinction. She does all this while splitting her time between the Hope and Texarkana campuses, teaching online, and working on her own doctoral studies."

Please join the UAHT family in thanking Gabrielle Patterson for her dedication to serving students at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana.
