Hope Academy of Public Service students Kennedy Phillips and Karleigh Moore won first and second places, respectively, in the Hope Education Association sponsored Black History Month Poster Contest with projects about U.S. Representative Shirley Chisholm and Ella Baker. Rep. Chisholm was the first Black woman elected to Congress and first Black woman to seek the presidency; while, Baker was best known for her work as a civil rights activist through the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. –  Ken McLemore/Hope Public Schools
