PPD and more host National Night Out at NC Fairgrounds
Across the nation tonight, law enforcement are celebrating National Night Out within their resepective communities with the goal of promoting police-community partnerships and neighborly goodwill. The Prescott Police Department (PPD) and other agencies from Nevada County certainly did their part tonight when hosting at the Nevada County Fairgrounds with a variety of fun options for families to enjoy.

Nevada County Fire & Rescue, Fairhills VFD, Redland VFD, and the Arkansas Department  of Ag Forestry Division all joined PPD in hosting duties, and the event provided a bounce house, food trucks, shopping, and even a dunking booth for the night's entertainment. Members of We Are the 22 were also on the scene to support this community-building event and spread the word about their nonprofit organization and work with veteran suicide prevention.

PPD's David Thomason shared with SWARK.Today why the PPD and fellow participating agencies believed tonight's event was so important for the Prescott-Nevada County Community. "We are trying to build a bridge between police and community, and we hope that these positive experiences can help build those relationships," Thomason said. "We brought many fun things for the kids tonight, plus a lot of information about more activites and events like these that we host throughout the entire year." Some of those other events include Blue Santa, the Widow/Widowers Luncheon, the Pastor's Appreciation Luncheon, and Cakes with Cops, just to name a few.

The kids at tonight's event seemed to truly enjoy all the fun offerings, especially after a quick visit to the snow cone stand, and could be seen running and playing throught the fairgrounds. The biggest attraction for many of them though was a good long gander at the fire trucks where volunteer firefighters could be seen giving a quick show and tell. That effort, plus the endeavors of all the agencies there tonight, surely went a long way in helping them reach their goal to grow more community camaraderie and positive relationships.
