The Prescott City Council met for their December meeteing. The full meeting can be watched above but the highlights of the night include an approved motion to increase the city and rural water rates, plus City Attorney Glenn Vasser said his farewell.
Superintendent of Water and Sewer Perry Nelson gave council members a full explanation of the reason for the rate increase, $5.00 on meter fee and $1 on usage fee monthly, citing the rising cost in materials, maintenance, and other factors which has the city budget operating at a loss. Council members on the budget committee, as well as City Accountant Carl Dalrymple, gave input regarding the city's budget, all seeing a dire need to make some hard choices, and then the council had a discussion about options and ways to communicate this need to the public. The entire report and discussion can be watched above.
Near the close of the meeting, City Attorney Glenn Vasser shared some words about his years as the city attorney and said his goodbye. Vasser gave his resignation back in February and made positive remarks about his tenure. He said he would assist his successor in any way possible, and urged the council to find his replacement sooner rather than later. Vasser's full remarks can be watched above.
