“Our offensive line played great last week against Crossett, so we definitely want to try and replicate that this week,” Coach Glass said when asked about the O-Line. The guys up front last week took on the challenge of a very big team in Crossett, but they handled business and were a main reason the Wolves cruised to a 43-point blowout. They will need a lot of the same style of play to beat Salem this week, as they have a tough, hard-nosed group up in the trenches. “They run a lot of 3-3 looks, they use a lot of stunts, so our line has to be prepared and ready for anything,” Glass said as he spoke on the Greyhounds defensive scheme.
The Salem offense will line up in many different formations on Thursday night. “They can line up under center, or go 4 wide, they’re a tough team to prepare for, we’re going to have to come out and execute,” Glass said as he spoke on the challenges that the Greyhounds offense could present to the defense. Jayden Purtle played great last week for the Wolves, as well as Cliff Jones and Mario Brownlee, so look for the LB group to continue to make plays. The secondary is a veteran group and they are just waiting for opportunities to make a game-changing play. The D-line played good last week for Prescott, as this could be a big factor in the outcome of the game this week. Colton Arnold could be due for a big night, as well as Zander Carter and Joseph Chavarria.
PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
DeCari Prater could be in line for another big game this Thursday, as the dual-threat QB will look to give the Greyhound defense a lot of problems. D’Wayne White had a big TD catch last week so look for White to be a big play threat to the Salem defense. Spencer Hubbard, Michael Brownlee, and Jay Monk should present a “pick your poison” problem for the Greyhounds, as Prescott has playmakers everywhere on the outside, so that should be a plus for the Wolves offense. Coming off a 3-TD night, KJ Page will look to continue to run the ball well, same goes for Tiquan Box, as Prescott will look to have another great week on the ground.
Prescott should have the speed advantage on Thursday, as should be the case most of the year. Even though Salem continuously shows that they can match up with any team, as they are a well-coached group. Look for Prescott to get off to another quick start in this one, as they look to grab the momentum early on and keep their foot on the gas.
Kickoff is set for 7PM at Hendrix College in Conway.
