Prescott High graduates 68 Sunday afternoon
Prescott High School sent 68 graduates into the world Sunday afternoon from the school’s spacious gym which was so packed with families and well-wishers that many had to stand and watch the ceremony from the overhead balconies.

After the soon-to-be graduates proceeded around the gym to the strains of Elgar’s “Pomp and Circumstance” played by the Prescott High Band, Wilson Dean Rocco Loe, Highest Honor Graduate and National Honor Society member gave the opening prayer. Then Georgie Leigh Craine, Highest Honor Graduate and National Honor Society member herself, welcomed the large crowd and introduced Prescott Superintendent Robert Poole.

Poole recognized 2024’s Senior Highest Honor Graduates, who included Loe and Crain as well as Gavin Michael Hatley and Lily Kate Koger.

Senior Honor Graduates were introduced next. They included Marnie Marie Buck, Jamarion Jaques Burton, Nelda Lidia Chavez, Zareah O’Brii Colbert, Aubree Grace Cornelius, Tanner Dean Jarvis, Baleigh Anne Laughard, Elijah Griffin Lowdermilk, Melelina Audriana McRoy, Rocco Patrick, John Lee Rabadan, Lainey Rae Robbins, Gary Talan Smith, Madison Anne Vent, and Pierce Barrett Yates.

High School Principal Tommy Poole and Prescott School Board President Michael Williams presented diplomas to students, often to the sounds of applause and approval from audience members.

Senior Highest Honors Graduate and National Honors Society member Gavin Michael Hatley led the singing of the Prescott High Alma Mater.

After Tommy Poole pronounced the 68 members of the class of 2024 to be graduates and instructed the changing of the angle of tassels, hats were thrown in the air as blasts of blue and pink confetti were sent up.  A closing prayer was said and the new graduates then scattered throughout the gym to meet family and friends as the ceremony came to its triumphant end.
